Five gunmen in the early hours of Friday assassinated the Director of Operations of Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Malam Dauda.
According to Daily Trust, the attackers breached the security of the victim’s home located in the Barakallahu community in the Igabi local government area of the state where they killed him.
It was established that the assailants simply killed the victim and left leaving all valuables in the house.
The suspects also attacked a nearby community, possibly to distract members of the community as they carried out their nefarious act.
However, there were no casualties in the other attack.
Confirming the incident, the community’s District Chief, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi, said Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from Rigachikun and Barnawa, who reside in the community, visited the scene of the crime.
He said, “This is just a case of murder because they only went to the victim’s house, killed him and left the community, they didn’t take anything from his house or attacked the guard and his wife.
“Even in the other village that was attacked, no lives were lost, they just caused a disturbance and left. We feel like they just did this to make it look like an attack.
“We faced various security breaches in the community informed by the vast ungoverned territory taken over by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). You know, we were in court, we won in the High Court, but they appealed the case to the Court of Appeal here in Kaduna. »
He called on the state government to mediate between the community and the NAF in the vast territory which he said is a hiding place for criminals.
Police Public Relations Officer ASP Muhammad Jalige has yet to respond to calls forwarded to him at the time of writing.
The community of Barakallahu is about five kilometers from the main town of Kaduna, along the Kaduna-Zaria road.
