Welcome to the website of the Commission for Local Administration in Wales. (The Commissioner is known as the Local Government Ombudsman) The Commission was set up in 1974 (by the Local Government Act of that year). The Commission consists of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration for the time being (currently Ms Ann Abraham) ex officio and a Local Commissioner (or Ombudsman) for Wales. The current Local Government Ombudsman for Wales is Elwyn Moseley. The Local Commissioner is empowered by the 1974 Act to investigate complaints by the public that maladministration by local authorities in Wales had caused them to suffer injustice. He was given further powers in 2001 to investigate allegations that members of local authorities in Wales had failed to comply with their authority's code of conduct.
